Though the facade still incorporates neoclassical columns and arches, the hotel's ornate statuary and fountains have been replaced by a broad, streamlined entry plaza dotted with flagstone fountains and small trees, and flanked by new sidewalk bars/restaurants. Park MGM has modernized and mostly de-themed its Strip-front entrance, and has become the first fully smoke-free resort on the Las Vegas Strip. But if you thought this mega complex, modeled after the famed Place du Casino in Monaco, might be over the hill, think again. Both ultra-luxe properties have made high-profile opening splashes since the Park MGM (formerly the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino) was built back in ‘96.
